Neurotic fear

Neurotic fear is often called the free fear that can be connected with any object, phenomenon, feeling, event, situation, person, etc. This fear usually has no real bases. This fear is the "fear of waiting". People that suffer from this fear are always ready for the worst situations, they live expecting for something bad to happen. Freud called this state of the organism "anxiety neurosis".

The second stage of this fear is psychologically more related to the object of fear. This is the fear that has a great number of forms that may be strange and extraordinary. And then this fear is usually called "phobia".

Some situations and fears that neurotics feel are the fear of ordinary things. People are afraid of the same things too. These things may be dangerous and scary. So, some phobias seem to be understandable and natural. But the main feature of the phobia is that this fear is extreme fear of the high level.

For example, very spread fear of reptiles is naturally based. Snakes, mice, rats may really harm people. Or the fear connected with the danger to fly and drive the car. But the thing that impresses us in these phobias is not the object of fear but the intensiveness of the fear. The fear of phobia just can't be described. People stop controlling themselves and they begin to panic.

But there are also a lot of phobias that don't have any natural background. These phobias are irrational as for example the fear of animals.
